Risk factors and doubts about for breast cancer
1. Family history of breast cancer in mother, sister
2. Ladies who don’t breastfed their children
3. Ladies who never have children ( nulliparous)
4. Oral contraceptive pills ( OCP) containing hormones slightly increases the risk of breast cancer. Ladies who have family history of breast cancer should be given low dose pills. The risk reduces again once the lady stops OCP.
5. Breast development is an interplay between hormones. Females are at more risk of breast cancer than males. This risk is approximately 100 times more.
6. A lady having breast cancer in one breast is more likely to develop it in another breast. She is also more likely to develop more tumors in the same breast. This has been proved by scientific research.
7. Fibroadenoma doesn’t increase the risk for breast cancer.
8. Early menarche and late menopause makes a lady more prone to get breast cancer.
This happens as the estrogen remains in circulation for more years.

Tamoxifen is having antiestrogenic effects. So it is used to treat estrogen receptor-positive breast cancers.
